Spokane, WA – The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the return and partnership of the league's newest team, the Spokane Shock.
During a press conference Friday at the Spokane Arena, team ownership announced that the Spokane team will compete as members of the IFL for the 2020 season. The team will be owned by former NFL great and All-Pro Defensive Tackle Sam Adams. Spokane also introduced former IFL Coach of the Year Billy Back as the team's new Head Coach.
"We couldn't be any more pleased to have the opportunity to reintroduce the Spokane Shock," said Adams. "We have assembled a strong leadership team, are signing players and have been surprised and excited to see the enthusiasm the Spokane community has for the Shock. We can't wait to bring Indoor Football back to Eastern Washington."
Billy Back joins the Shock as the team's head coach and President of Football Operations. Back led the IFL's Wichita Falls Nighthawks during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. During that time, he led the Nighthawks to a 23-9 record and the team's first appearance in the IFL playoffs. He has coached a two-time IFL MVP (Charles McCullum) and had 11 players named to the All-IFL list during those two seasons. Since departing the IFL in 2017, Back coached the Carolina Cobras and led them to a league championship in 2018.
Additional news including the 2020 schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
