SPOKANE, WASHINGTON – The Spokane Shock announce the signing of Michael Green, star defensive back. A two-time First Team All-IFL DB and the 2015 IFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Green returns to the IFL after spending the last two seasons as a member of the Carolina Cobras in of the NAL.
In 2019 as a member of the Cobras, Green was named a First Team All-NAL selection as he led the league in Passes Defended (34) by a wide margin, finishing nearly ten above the next best defender. In addition, he finished third in the NAL in Tackles (62), third in Interceptions (9), fourth in Interception Return Yards and fifth in Interception Returns for Touchdown. He was also named a First Team All-NAL DB in 2018 en route to helping lead his team to the NAL Championship.
He played for Shock Head Coach Billy Back with Wichita Falls in 2017 where he led the team in tackles (75) and tied for the lead in interceptions (6). He, along with current Shock teammates QB Charles McCullum and WR Jordan Jolly, helped lead the Nighthawks to a 12-4 record and the team's first ever playoff appearance.
Green began his IFL career in 2015 as a member of the Billings Wolves. Green accounted for 114 tackles, two sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and seven interceptions en route to being named IFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-IFL selection. In 2016, Green followed up his rookie season for the Wolves by recording 86 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and tied for a league-leading 10 interceptions. He was again named a First Team All-IFL DB. Green is currently tied for ninth in IFL history with 23 career interceptions.
