TUCSON, ARIZONA – The Tucson Sugar Skulls will hold an open tryout for their all-female dance team, the Sugar Dolls, on Sunday, January 5, in the Monsoon Room at the Desert Diamond Casino, 7350 S. Nogales Highway.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. The tryout will start promptly at 11 a.m. The event is open to the public.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the tryout and will be required to present identification and pay a $20 tryout fee in cash. No checks, credit cards or debit cards will be accepted. All applicants also must provide a head shot photo at registration.
Suggested attire is crop top with spandex shorts and jazz shoes or lightweight tennis shoes. Hair should be worn down and make-up should be done.
Dance team members must have the ability to perform different styles of dance to include pom, jazz, funk and hip hop. They must be able to work well under pressure and adapt to performance changes, always demonstrating high energy.
The team will practice twice per week and will perform at every home game. Attendance at all seven home games and home playoff games is required. The Sugar Skulls' home season begins March 29 and runs through June 27. All games are at the Tucson Arena. There will be public appearances at community events throughout the season.
