DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have signed defensive lineman Sha-ki Holines and offensive lineman Andrew Erbes to the 2020 roster, Head Coach Ameer Ismail announced today.
Holines (6-3, 260, University of Massachusetts) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Holines played four years at the University of Massachusetts. During his time with the Minutemen, Holines saw action in 43 games and collected 137 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Holines also earned honors being named to the Phil Steele All-Independent First Team following his junior season and the Phil Steele All-Independent Second Team following his senior season.
Last season, Holines earned a spot at training camp with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
"Sha-ki is an explosive player that has the ability to get off the ball quick and make plays," said Coach Ismail. "He spent some time in the CFL so I'm looking for him to get to camp with a sense of urgency, to learn, and to be an instant impact for us this season."
Erbes (6-3, 312, University of Nevada – Las Vegas) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his first season with the team. Collegiately, Erbes wore a few different uniforms with stints at Arizona State, Mesa Community College, and the University of Idaho before finishing with the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Following his collegiate career, Erbes received an opportunity with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) appearing on their practice roster before earning his spot on the active roster.
"Andrew is a guy I've known for a couple of years. I had the chance to see him when I was a guest coach in Montreal," said Coach Ismail. "He was doing a phenomenal job up there and I'm excited to have him come be part of the Barnstormers family and help lead our offensive line."
